Review by Brandon Callies

Christian pop duo “ for King & Country” are back with their third album entitled “Burn the Ships,” and it’s bound to impress fans of the genre.

This is an anthem filled offering from start to finish. “ There is a constant uplift from track to track, not only lyrically, but musically as well. Songs like “Joy” and “Fight On, Fighter” provides the template for the more upbeat style, while “Need You More” gives more of a traditional praise and worship sound.

These songs really push the boundaries of what contemporary Christian music generally has to offer. There is certainly more mainstream appeal.

“God Only Knows” could easily be paired with Imagine Dragons or Fun any day. This group has provided an easy listen with a positive message on “Burn the Ships.” Be on the lookout for “for King & Country!”

The album’s soaring lead single “joy.” has been streamed more than 12 million times and was included on USA Today/The Tennessean’s “Best Songs of the Year” (so far) all-genre list, proclaiming “’joy.’ is an infectious, upbeat anthem about choosing to be joyful in the face of hardship.” “joy.” has already reached the No. 1 spot on radio in Canada, Australia, and Mediabase CHR and the music video for “joy.” has over 5 million views on YouTube
