My Body Sings Electric (Denver, CO)

Denver rock quintet, My Body Sings Electric, is an interesting bunch for sure. With a burgeoning weekly podcast, The Awful Truth, and a stellar sophomore record, Part 1: The Night Ends – the record reached #1 on the Billboard’s Rocky Mountain Regional Charts – this is a band that knows how to work, on and off the stage.

But it’s not just their active disposition that puts them on the indie rock map; these five “lovable misfits” make some stellar music.

Part 1: The Night Ends is stacked with danceable beats, “Keep It Simple, Stupid,” and glittery-guitar rock, “New Friends,” yet it’s singer Brandon Whalen’s clear voice and earnest intent that really separates MBSE from the pack. The music has swagger, but the lyrics have brains; which is an increasingly rare combination in today’s go at popular music.

This week, the Rocky Mountain rockers bring the party to the Lone Star state with their Balls Deep in Texas run to the famed South by Southwest Music Festival. On Saturday, March 21st, My Body Sings Electric hits Austin for back-to-back shows; Brass House’s Ballroom stage for Hand Drawn Records’ unofficial showcase at 6pm, then the Red 7 Patio for an official SXSW set at 9pm.
