RATING: “PUSH PLAY”

Iggy and the Stooges’ latest release Ready To Die bleeds rock n roll excess. Nothing is taboo with this band of aging degenerates, and the proof can be found in songs like ” Burn” and “Sex and Money.” “Job” is the ultimate slacker anthem, but if anybody can convince one to throw caution to the wind and adopt the vagabond lifestyle, it would be Iggy Pop. Songs like “Unfriendly World” and “The Departed” add diversity to “Ready To Die.”

This band embodies a swagger no longer seen in rock n roll. The Stooges still perform with the intensity of a group of 18 year olds which is what still makes them a spectacle. The Stooges are the fathers of punk rock proving why they still continue to be relevant and influence so many others.
