RATING: “DON’T PUSH PLAY”
If there were a book of metal “dont’s,” OTEP would be the star. The band can’t seem to pull themselves out of the early 2000’s and seems to embody all that is wrong with heavy music.
OTEP’s newest offering Hydra has no real dynamics. There is an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness in songs like “Hematopia” and “Quarantine.” The somber themes quickly grow mundane and are sure to put the listener to sleep (which may give way to dreams of evil clowns chasing them down dark alleys). Sounds fun right?
Mundane. Metal. Music. “DON’T PUSH PLAY”
