ARTIST-ON-ARTIST: Ray Stephenson by Brandon Callies

– Ray Stephenson by Brandon Callies –

RATING: “PUSH PLAY”

Ray Stephenson’s quiet voice comes through loud and clear on his newest release Freedom. For those that enjoy mainstream country music with a twist, this is the album for you. Freedom is laced with good songwriting, and there is an overall upbeat feel to the album.

Many can relate to blue collar songs like “She’s Still Working On Me” and “Farmboy.” It’s a story told many times, but still a theme that rings true. High points of the album include “Hemingway’s Whiskey” and “Heroes” which seem to stretch Stephenson’s lyrical abilities.

The best thing about Ray Stephenson & The Revival is Stephenson’s ability to create a peaceful atmosphere. It’s something that we all need from time to time.

Peaceful. Upbeat. Country. “PUSH PLAY”
